What does our Hepatitis C service cover?

Hepatitis C Treatment

Our service includes everything from testing to treatment. Whether you are unsure about your symptoms or know you have been exposed, we will provide you with accurate results as well as reliable treatments and care. Everything is done quietly and confidentially to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.

Our professional team of pharmacists are here for you.

Medicines are about 95% effective in curing Hepatitis patients and have few side effects. As a result, most patients improve after only one treatment.

You'll be given the medication that works best for your specific strain of Hepatitis C. While undergoing treatment, you should have blood tests to confirm that your medicine is working properly. If not, your pharmacist can recommend an alternative drug.

I have used the services of this pharmacy recently and found it to be a most user friendly operation. The knowledgeable staff offer a friendly and efficient customer service. This pharmacy offers many services which others do not and is certainly a major asset both to the NHS and Letchworth Garden City.

FAQs

How effective is Hepatitis C treatment?

Nine out of ten individuals with hepatitis C are cured by direct-acting antivirals (DAAs). You are not protected against contracting hepatitis C again after completing therapy. You still might catch it again. If treatment is unsuccessful, it may be repeated, or prolonged, or an alternative drug cocktail may be tried. You can get advice from your medical professional or nurse.

Is there a vaccine for Hepatitis C?

No, there's no vaccine for hepatitis C.

How can I avoid spreading Hepatitis C to others?

To reduce the risk of spreading hepatitis C to other people, keep personal items, such as toothbrushes or razors for your own use, disinfect and cover any cuts or grazes, clean any blood from surfaces with household bleach, avoid sharing needles or syringes with others, and refrain from donating blood.

      What are Hepatitis C complications?

Hepatitis C can occasionally result in liver scarring if untreated (cirrhosis). This may manifest up to 20 years or more after you contract the infection. The liver may lose all or most of its functions in extreme situations. End-stage liver disease or liver failure is the term used for this.
